Planning around school holidays with a ride subscription

Turn a ride off in the app by 12 PM the day before and that day carries forward. Here’s how to plan a term around it.

A school term in Hyderabad is full of breaks: festival holidays, exam leave, PTM days and the odd unexpected closure. A ride subscription shouldn’t mean paying for days your child stays home. Here’s how carry-forward credit works with MetroRide Kids, and how to plan a term so you use every ride you pay for.

How carry-forward credit works

MetroRide Kids plans are counted in working days. A Monthly plan covers 20 working days and a Quarterly plan covers 60. If your child won’t ride on a particular day, turn that ride off in the app by 12 PM the day before. The day isn’t used up; it carries forward as credit.

Two details catch people out:

  • Only turn-offs in the app count. Telling the driver, or calling, doesn’t carry the day forward.
  • The cutoff is noon the day before, not the morning of the ride.

Plan the term in one sitting

  1. Get your school’s calendar for the term.
  2. Mark every holiday, exam day with different timings, and event day.
  3. Set a phone reminder for the morning before each of those days, well before noon.
  4. When the reminder goes off, turn the ride off in the app.

Ten minutes at the start of term saves a lot of last-minute scrambling.

Unplanned days off

Some days can’t be planned. If your child wakes up unwell, the noon cutoff has already passed, so that ride won’t carry forward. The habit that helps most is turning off any day you already suspect your child might miss, such as the day after a late family function, by noon the day before.

Monthly or Quarterly?

Both plans work the same way for holidays. The Monthly plan suits families who want to try the service first or whose schedule changes often. The Quarterly plan covers 60 working days, roughly a school term, so you set it up once and plan the term in one go.
